UptimeGlobe vs UptimeRobot

The category’s default choice. What changes here is that every check comes back with a diagnosis instead of a colour.

The 3am difference is one line of text

Every uptime monitor can tell you a check failed. The part that costs you forty minutes is working out whether your server fell over or something between the probe and your server did. A tool that checks from one place can’t answer that, because from a single vantage point the two look identical.

We check from every region on your plan, compare the results, and put the conclusion in the alert. Here are the sentences our alerts actually send:

Your app stops answering everywhere
Down from all 3 monitoring regions — your server (or its network) is unreachable from everywhere we check.

This one’s yours — go and look at the server.

One region loses the route, two still get through
Reachable from 2 of 3 regions, but 1 region (🇺🇸 US East (Virginia)) can't reach it — the problem looks like the internet route between that region and your server, not the server itself.

Your server is fine and a transit path isn’t. Going to look at your app would have wasted forty minutes.

Where we stop short of guessing

The second alert doesn’t say “network problem” on the strength of one region failing. It says two other regions got through, and it names the one that didn’t.

That distinction is enforced in the code: a network verdict needs a successful check from somewhere else inside the same window. If the other regions haven’t reported yet, the alert says so — “the remaining regions haven't confirmed either way yet”. And a single-region monitor is told outright that it can’t tell the two apart. An alert that admits what it doesn’t know beats one that sounds certain and sends you to the wrong place.

Multi-region is not the upsell

Two regions on the free plan, three on Starter, a dozen cities and six broader regions above that, each check stamped with the datacentre it actually ran in. Each region you add counts as one more monitor against your plan, because each one is a real check we run.

On UptimeRobot, choosing regions is a paid feature, and the regions take turns: their help centre says each check runs from one region, and checks cycle through your selected regions in order. Ours check from every region you pick at the same moment, which is what lets an alert compare them and tell your server apart from the route to it.

Where they are ahead, plainly: Scale gives 200 monitors at 15-second checks, rotating, for $77 a month. Our Business plan gives 100 one-region monitors at 15 seconds for $69. If you need hundreds of 15-second monitors, compare that line first.

The rest of it

All 13 alert channels on every paid plan: Slack, Discord, Teams, SMS, PagerDuty, Pushover, signed webhooks. Adding your co-founder costs nothing, because we do not price per person.

Public status pages, badges and a JSON feed on every plan including free. Heartbeat monitors for cron jobs, so a backup that silently stops running pages you. TLS expiry warnings before the certificate lapses. Browser checks from Pro.

And an MCP server with one-click OAuth: your AI assistant can create monitors, read incidents and acknowledge alerts without you opening a dashboard. If you live in Claude or Cursor, that is worth more than another chart.

Prices move. Tell us if one of these is out of date.
