What a 1-minute check costs

Both products give you ten monitors free on a five-minute interval. That’s fine for a blog, but on anything with customers it means an outage can run for five minutes before anyone knows — and that’s the number that ends up in the incident review.

So the real comparison is the cheapest plan that checks every minute:

StatusCake figures from their pricing page. They include more monitors at that tier; we include per-region checking and the origin-vs-network diagnosis that depends on it. Each extra region counts as one more of our monitors, so 60 is 30 sites checked from two regions. If you need more, our Pro plan covers two hundred.

A narrower product, at well under half the price

We do one job. Checks run from several regions at once, the results get compared, and every alert tells you whether your origin failed or the route to it did. That’s on the ten-dollar plan, not an upgrade.

Alongside it you get certificate expiry warnings before a cert lapses, heartbeat monitors that page you when a cron job quietly stops running, all 13 alert channels with no per-person fee, public status pages with badges and a JSON feed on every plan including free, and an MCP server your AI assistant can drive.

What we do differently

The reason multi-region matters isn’t coverage, it’s that one vantage point can’t tell two different failures apart. A server that’s fallen over and a broken route to a healthy server look identical from a single probe. Check from three places and they stop looking identical: down everywhere is your origin, down from one is the path.

So the alert can carry a verdict rather than a colour, and you skip the twenty minutes of checking whether it’s even your problem. That comparison runs on every plan we sell, including the free one.
